68736 stood behind 68723 at the back of the roundhouse in Gateshead shed Newcastle. Built by W.G.Armstrong Whitworth & Co. Ltd. (Wks No 407) she was delivered to the NER as Class E1 No 2329 in June 1922, she became LNER Class J72 and was remumbered 8736 before been given the BR No 68736 in August 1950. She was given the station pilot livery with 68723 in May 1960, withdrawn in October 1963 and scrapped at Darlington North Road the following month.
