A gleaming Class 47/3 No. 47348 'St Christopher's Railway Home' is on display at the Crewe Basford Hall Yard open day held on 27th August 1995. New in May 1965 as Brush Type 4 No. D1829 her first allocation was to the D16 Nottingham Division. Renumbered under TOPS as Class 47/3 No. 47348 in November 1973 she was named after the Railway Orphanage in Derby on 31st May 1987. At the time of this photo No. 47348 was allocated to Tinsley TMD and carries the new 2 tone grey Railfreight livery with Railfreight Distribution decals as well as the Eurotunnel circles under the drivers cab. Further Depot transfers took her to Bescot in 1998 and finally Crewe in 1999 from where she was withdrawn during April 2004 after a shunting accident at Shoeburyness. Ron Hull Jr of Rotherham completed the scrapping of No. 47348 during January 2007.
