Class 37/0 No. 37219 stands alongside Class 58 No. 58050 'Toton Traction Depot' at the Crewe Basford Hall Yard open day on Sunday 27th August 1995. Both are in the Mainline blue and silver livery. Class 58 No. 58050 was the last diesel locomotive built by British Railways and is currently in store in Spain after finishing her infrastructure duties there, whereas Class 37/0 No. 37219 has just celebrated her 50th birthday by being bought out of preservation by Colas Rail for a possible return to the main line. New to Cardiff Canton MPD in January 1964 as Type 3 No. D6919 she became Class 37/0 No. 37219 under TOPS in February 1974 while allocated to Thornaby MPD. Withdrawal from service took place in December 2005 following which periods were spent at several preservation sites including Chasewater, GWR Toddington, Chinnor, Mid Norfolk and Blaenavon before the sale to Colas in January 2014. Currently No. 37219 is stored at Washwood Heath Birmingham.
