On Monday 11th June 1984, all blue Class 47/4 No. 47444 'University of Nottingham' passes Prestwick Airport with the very short lived titled train 'The Sou-Wester Express'. I believe this ran from Glasgow Central to Stranraer Harbour and back as a titled train for just the 1984 summer period. Brush Type 4 No. D1560 was delivered to Tinsley MPD in March 1964 being converted to ETH, reclassified, and renumbered as a Class 47/4 No. 47444 in February 1974 while allocated to Bescot DMD. It was named 'University of Nottingham' on 14th May 1981, a name she carried until her withdrawl from Crewe TMD in November 1990. Scrapping took place locally at BREL Crewe Works during July 1995 being undertaken by MRJ Phillips.
