Dumped outside Derby Works on Saturday 7th June 1986 is the prototype HST power car that did not survive into preservation. Originally built as Class 41 No. 41002 in 1972 but renumbered as Class 43 No. 43001 in 1974 the vehicle had been operated by the RTC at Derby since 1976 as a dead load vehicle numbered ADB975813 as seen in this image. Condemned during December 1986 it was eventually scrapped by C F Booth of Rotherham in December 1990. Fortunately the other prototype power car No. 41001 survived and has recently been restored to working order.
