Class 50 No. 50031 'Hood' departs from Paddington Station with an empty stock working for Old Oak Common as the light starts to fade on Friday 3rd November 1989. New in 1968 and transferred to the Western Region in May 1976 from the London Midland to assist in the replacement of the last Western hydraulics she would be withdrawn in 1981 after less than 23 years use. Fortunately she was spared the scrapyard and has now been in preservation longer than she operated in BR use and can normally be found on The Severn Valley Railway.
