A strange visitor to the WCML came in the form of 60009 'Union of South Africa' as it arrives at Northampton to pick up passenger while hauling "The Cheshireman" from London Euston to Chester and return on 20th September 2014. The loco was a replacement for the original booked loco, BR Standard 7MT No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell, which had failed a few days earlier.
