Significant differences can be seen when comparing the front ends of these two LNER Class A2 Pacifics on Polmadie Depot on 23rd May 1965. The earlier Class A2/3 No. 60512 "Steady Aim" has a double chimney, but the later Class A2 No. 60535 "Hornets Beauty" has a shorter wheelbase, shorter smoke deflectors, the cylinders are more forward, and has a single chimney. Both locomotive were officially withdrawn from service only a few weeks later in June 1965.
