Stabled on Wernigerode Shed on 14th February 2016 is Harz Railway Class 199 No. 199 874-9. Converted from standard gauge ex DB locomotives around half a dozen are owned by the HSB although only 4 are currently in service with 2 more stored at Wernigerode Works. Fitted for remote radio control working they are used throughout the network on engineering and snow clearance duties and also perform empty stock duties at Wernigerode. No. 199 874-9 has also recently been fitted with folding standard gauge buffers which can clearly be seen in this night image. As all rolling stock on the HSB has a central coupling system with No. buffers the reason is unknown.
