Merchant Navy Pacific No. 35006 "Peninsular & Oriental S.N. Co" undergoes maintenance at Toddington on 22nd October 2016. New from Eastleigh Works in December 1941 as Southern Railway No. 21C6, the locomotive was allocated to Salisbury depot. Following nationalisation, she was renumbered 35006 and was rebuilt in October 1959 losing the streamlined casing, with the chain driven valve gear being replaced with Walschaerts. Withdrawn in August 1964 she was sent to Woodhams at Barry for scrapping, finally being rescued in 1983 by The 35006 Locomotive Company Ltd. After 33 years of restoration, the locomotive returned to steam and made her public debut in May 2016.
