The World's first 2-8-2 Steam locomotive was Baldwin Class Q-3 'light Mikado' No. 4500 for B&O Railroad in 1918, seen at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum, Baltimore, on 22nd June 2018. No. 4500 ran for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1957.
