After a period of diesel haulage due to the high risk of fire, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is once again using steam traction. on 6th July 2023, LMS Class 5 No. 5428 'Eric Treacy' stands at Grosmont having worked services to Whitby. Alongside is BR Standard Class 9F No. 92134 which had arrived from Pickering with the 'Moorlander' dining train. Also in steam were BR Standard Class 4T No. 80136 which had double-headed an afternoon service to Pickering with the Lambton tank No. 29 and on shed at Grosmont was SR 'Schools' class No. 30926 'Repton'.
