A surprise appearance at the Honeybourne Line's GWR 175 celebration was the Gas turbine prototype, No. 18000, ordered by the GWR in 1940 but not delivered until 1949. It was found to be unsuitable for railway use and was returned to Switzerland in the 60's where the turbine was removed. In the 90's it returned to the UK and has been 'ballasted' and kept on static display since then, mainly at Crewe.
