A First Trans Pennine Express service to Manchester Airport approaches the foot crossing at Rylands in Chorley on 21st August 2010. The crossing has been the location of one fatality and many 'safety incidents' in recent years and a notice from Lancashire County Council for 'The Making of a Rail Crossing Diversion Order' (Dated 11 August 2010) has been posted at the site. The diversion is shown as 20 to 25m to the south of the crossing. Although it doesn't say so it would appear to involve the construction of a footbridge since the move would not improve the sighting for a foot crossing.
