Regrettably with no headboard, English Electric 'Deltic' Class No. 9009 'Alycidon' runs into York on 8th June 1971 with 1E05, the Up Flying Scotsman, 10.00 Edinburgh - London King's Cross express. New from Vulcan Foundry in July 1961 and first allocated to Finsbury Park (34G), it became Class 55 No. 55009 under TOPS in January 1974. The loco was withdrawn in January 1982 but survives in preservation with the Deltic Preservation Society.
