Vacuum only 1,500V DC Class 76 No. 76003 is pictured while stabled in Guide Bridge sidings, Manchester on 19th March 1978. This loco was delivered from nearby Gorton Works in February 1952 as No. E26036 becoming No. 76036 under the TOPS scheme. Unusually however, during October 1976 it swopped identities with classmate No. 76003, the former No. E26003, and assumed its identity as shown here. Withdrawn from Reddish MPD upon closure of the Woodhead route on 17th July 1981, the locomotive was one of three Class 76s hauled to Vic Berry's yard at Leicester and scrapped there during April 1983.
