Sunday 11th May 1986 finds Class 50 No. 50036 'Victorious' nearing the end of what will be the final major overhaul of its career. With the new paint hardly dry it is back in the erecting shops for final adjustments and testing. New to BR as No. D436 in August 1968, the same month as steam traction finally ended on BR, she was allocated to the Crewe Division of the WCML for use on the non electrified section northwards towards Scotland. Renumbered under TOPS to No. 50036 in early 1974 and transferred to Plymouth Laira MPD after the full completion of the WCML electrification scheme she, and her fellow classmates, enabled the replacement of the last of the Western Regions diesel hydraulics by 1977. Named 'Victorious' on 16th May 1978 she was refurbished at Doncaster Works in the early 1980's. No. 50036 was taken out of traffic at Plymouth Laira during April 1991 and cut up by C F Booth of Rotherham during July 1992.
