Class 47/7 No. 47711 'Greyfriars Bobby' is stabled on Inverness TMD on Sunday 25th September 1983. New to the London Midland Region in June 1966 as No. D194, it was transferred to the Western Region in May 1972, being renumbered under TOPS as Class 47/4 No. 47498 in February 1974. Moved to Haymarket MPD Edinburgh in October 1979, a final renumbering to Class 47/7 No. 47711 occurred when it was equipped with push-pull equipment shortly after. One of only two Class 47/7 locos outshopped in BR Large Logo Blue livery, the other being No. 47712, it was named 'Greyfriars Bobby' in April 1981 being denamed upon transfer back to the Western Region during December 1990. Withdrawn from service from Toton TMD in July 2000. No. 47711 was finally scrapped by HNRC in the Toton Training Compound during September 2004.
