Sunday 25th September 1983 finds locally based Class 26/1 No. 26044 under repair inside Inverness TMD. New to Edinburgh Haymarket MPD during October 1959 as No. D5344 a transfer to Inverness MPD took place in early 1960 from where she would spent all of her working life being renumbered under TOPS in May 1974 as Class 26/1 No. 26044. As is clear in this photo No. 26044 is still displaying Disc Headcodes, in this case for a Class 1 passenger working, some years after this practise was abandoned, and she also carries a single headlight for use on the far north lines to Thurso, Wick and the Kyle of Lochalsh. Withdrawn from service four months after this photo was taken in January 1984 she was eventually scrapped during January 1987 in Thornton Yard, Fife.
