Brand new Class 92 No. 92040 'Goethe' was among the exhibits at the Crewe Basford Hall Yard open day on Sunday 27th August 1995. Destined to be used by European Passenger Services (EPS), the forerunner of Eurostar on overnight sleeping car services between the UK and Belgium or France, the loco had yet to enter service on the BR Network. Like the rest of the Class No. 92040 was allocated to Crewe Electric Depot and carries the Depot plaque on the rear cabside. Since their introduction the Class 92's have never been worked to their full capacity on the Rail Network and No. 92040 has worked less than most having been in store for several years. Currently, May 2014, she is stored in France at Coquelles Depot.
