An opportunity to compare a regauged ex DB Standard Gauge Class 199 diesel with 4 Harz Railway 2-10-2Ts arose outside Wernigerode Depot early in the morning on Tuesday 1st July 2014. Class 199 No. 199874-9 is being driven out of the shed towards the turntable and is passing 2-10-2T Nos. 99 222, 99 7240-7, 99 7241-5 and 99 7237-3 as they are prepared for their daily passenger duties. The man riding on the front steps of the diesel dressed in orange is driving the loco by remote control and is on his way to collect a rake of 8 coaches from the carriage Depot to form the first service train from Wernigerode to the Brocken. The steam locos are large by narrow gauge standards but are dwarfed by the regauged diesel. Of note is the dual narrow and standard gauge tracks that both the diesel and the 2 steam locos on the far left are stabled on
