A view from the roof of Gloucester Panel signal box on 11th May 1989, showing the demolition of the S & T Depot building. Linemen, installers, cable jointers, painters, carpenters and locking fitters were all stationed at the depot. The whole site now lies beneath the embankment of the elevated Metz Way link road. Behind the rear wall of the building was Windmill Parade. The terraced houses had already been demolished but The Great Western public house survived. The Windmill Inn, which was situated at the other end of the road and to the right of the photograph, had to be demolished. The concrete building to the left was used as a messroom.
