The Heart of Wales line receives many excursions as it is renowned for its beauty and desolation; Saturday 13th April 2013 was unusual in that two excursions ran on the same day crossing each other at Llandrindod Wells. In this image the Pathfinder tour 'The Heart of Wales Wanderer' slows for a brief stop at Llanwrtyd Wells to allow the exchange of single-line tokens watched by enthusiasts and locals alike. The locomotive was DBS Class 66/0 No. 66079 named 'Driver James Nightall, GC' and the working, 1Z60, the 07:22 Tame Bridge to Llandrindod Wells which had travelled via Newport and the south Wales mainline before heading northwards over this splendidly long and beautiful rural line.
