Preserved Class 100 DMBS No. 50341 waits to lead fellow classmates DTCL No. 56099, DTCL No. 56097 and DMBS No. 51118 on a National Park Scenic servicedeparture from Grosmont to Pickering on Saturday 26th August 1978. The Gloucester RC&W Class 100s were introduced by BR in 1957 but started to be phased out in 1972. The above four vehicles were purchased for use on the fledgling North Yorkshire Moors Railway and provided a great opportunity for passengers to view the scenery during their journey. Eventually sold to the West Somerset Railway they provided the same service there until their condition deteriorated and they were withdrawn and stored out of use. DMBS No. 50341 and DTCL No. 56099 were eventually sold for scrap and broken up at Snailwell during May 1991 while DMBS No. 51118 and DTCL No. 56097 were sold to the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley where are being restored for further use.
