Following a hard overnight frost, Class 47/4 diesel electric No. 47459 passes Badgeworth on 8th February 1989 with a Bristol Temple Meads - Edinburgh service. New as No. D1579 from Crewe Works in May 1964 and first allocated to Gateshead (52A), it was re-numbered under TOPS in February 1974. The loco was unofficially named 'Perseus' at Tinsley on 14th February 1991, a name it carried until withdrawal on 25th March 1992. It was cut up at Booth-Roe Metals, Rotherham, during May 1993.
