Class 50 No. 50044 'Exeter' is crossing the bridge over the (Devon) Avon at South Brent with an 'up' train en route to its namesake city (via the warship on that name) and the capital on Brunel's tortuous route skirting round the southern slopes of Dartmoor on 6th April 1985. The gradient post confirms the valley location, the bright sun is only a temporary feature with storm clouds gathering over the distant moor.
