The Kennet and Avon canal is well above the Avon river here and in this view from the towpath a diverted express has just turned off the main line at Bathampton Junction on 12th April 1977. Class 47/0 No. 47107 heads the train south towards Bradford-on-Avon with the church at the village of Bathford looking down on the scene.
